PowerMILL is Delcam's core 3, 4 and 5 axis milling product, a stand alone
CAM system that produces NC toolpaths from CAD models quickly. PowerMILL
can accept data from any CAD system, via IGES, VDA, STL or a variety
of direct interfaces. It is extremely powerful, yet easy to use, and
generates roughing and finishing toolpaths which optimise the productivity
of CNC machine tools, while ensuring the highest quality machining of
models and tooling.

The unrivalled range of options in PowerMILL, (see the PowerMILL
capabilities), allows operators to increase the productivity of machine
tools by generating more efficient machining strategies. PowerMILL also
provides the operator with increased flexibility and speed of toolpath
generation. This ensures solutions which minimise the time the tool spends
in the air, minimise the time it spends lying idle waiting for NC code,
reduces hand finishing and produces gouge-free parts.

The intuitive user interface also allows experienced machine operators,
with no previous CAD experience to quickly learn how to produce toolpaths.
The experience they bring of how to cut metal reduces programming and
waste costs, freeing up additional CAD design capacity for other uses,
such as bidding for new work or higher value CAD projects.

Machining statistics, including time estimates and toolpath lengths, are
produced automatically for each selection. Finally, the visualisation and
verification facilities allow all toolpaths to be thoroughly checked
before they are sent to the machine, thus eliminating waste of time,
materials and money. The toolpath visualisation can also be used as a
cost effective teaching tool to aid the development of new machine tool
operators.
